Personal post

For those faithful readers on my blog, and those who know me – I love dogs and I love animals. I love doing pet portraiture. I think it is so much fun. Anyway…Eric and I brought a new puppy into our lives. Her name is Sophie. She is so cute. We got her at 8 weeks old. she was born Feb 4th, 2011. She is so cute. Anyway, the day after I got her, I decided to take some portraits of her. Her head is the size of a rose!!  So small.
She will be ten weeks old on Friday this week and she has already grown! holy cow.

Here are a few of her photos so that you can cyber-meet Sophie Skye Bernal. She is 1lb 10oz  and 8 weeks of age in the photos below). She posed awesome didn’t she?  What a great model!

Maternity session:Lacie

Doing maternity sessions are so much fun for me.  My heart goes out to any woman who can be pregnant and deal with all the things that pregnancy gives them in order to bring into the world a beautiful little human :) ha ha

Lacie and I discussed her maternity session and we decided that something natural and outdoors was just the thing for her.  Maris Malone Calderon did her makeup beautifully like she always does. I will say that the canvas of the third image below is so gorgeous. I almost did not want to give it to her.  I enjoyed this session termendously, we had so much fun.  I look forward to meeting this new “little human” that is due in a few weeks and I look forward to taking his first portrait!

Here are a few of her photos from that outdoor session

Wedding: Megan and Eric

Megan and Eric…oh what fun!   Our photographic journey started a year ago when Megan’s mom called me up and said “we are interested in working with you”..that was it.  Megan’s mom, Jackie, is such a lovely lady and I have enjoyed all the conversations that I have ever had with her. She has made me cry twice with her kind words and I keep swearing that I wouldn’t get emotional but..ugg, it happens.

The style that they were after was something a litle more traditional and I think we nailed it.   Our photographic journey took us to Dunvegan Keep where we did Megan and Eric’s engagement photos.  It was so green and pretty and I just loved the way they turned out.  We had a great time doing that session and their guest book turned out swell.

The bridal was done out at Trois Estates and I had a great time. It is a very long drive but worth every second.  I have gone out there several times and I have enjoyed it tremendously. I love her bridals, I think we got just what we were looking for.

The wedding was at the Driskill. Wow did they do a great job. The crew… Maris Malone Calderon and Jen Hoover on hair and makeup- like always. The florist…my bestie Brenda Abbott and those were beautiful flowers! I recommended that they hire Joe of Joe Simon Productions to make them a film that they will never forget and they did. Joe and his two guys were there and I cannot wait to see the his film. Her planner was one of my favorite planners ever.. Amy Mader from The Platinum Wedding. Amy’s crew was fantastic and I highly highly recommend her to any bride.

Highlights of the night, Megan had her first dance with her father, her step father, and Eric’s father-how cool-what a great father-daughter dance. Of course, Eric got a dance with moms from both sides as well. What a great way to welcome your new daughter/son into your family.

One of the specific photographs that Megan and Eric wanted was a night shoot at the Capitol building after the wedding. Megan and Eric had a horse and buggy waiting for them at the exit and the cool thing was that when we walked out with them, there was one for us too!!!  All 5 of us rode to the Capitol, that was totally fun! Thanks Jackie for arranging that for us too. I had a great time.

Senior Photography: Lacey

I love photographing seniors. Why? Because they are the coolest people on the planet. I relate to them the best. Still have a little kid inside of them but the adult in them is relatable. They are so much fun. Lacey is no exception to the rule.  We had so much fun.  We joked and we laughed, kicked mom out a few times ..ha ha

This was so much fun. Edith (Edie) Henry did the hair and makeup and took care of helping with the wardrobe as well. She is so awesome and I know that if Edie is there, my clients are “gonna look goooood”.

So, our session was a lot of fun, we did studio and we did did outdoors and I am having a difficult time figuring out which was my favorite out of everything we did!!  The opted to get one of my senior albums by Leather Craftsmen so I thought I would just out a quick show you the photos that are in her album. Which photo is your favorite? For those of you that are looking at this on a phone, you may not be able to see the video (at the bottom of the post) , so here is one of my faves

Lacey, if you are reading this…you are an exceptional young woman and I look forward to hearing about your life as you grow into it.

Congratulations to John and Caitlin

John and Caitlin. What can i say? Well… here is what I can say. Hilarious. John and Caitlin are so much fun. Our photographic journey started in San Francisco on a very very foggy day. We went to the golden gate bridge, we went downtown, we went to China Town… we had dinner in my favorite restaurant in the United States, North Beach Restaurant, I have been eating there for the last 15 years. In fact, I have had the same waiter for the last 10 years and her remembers me every time even though I only see them maybe once a year. amazing service and amazing food and an ambiance that cannot be beat. We have a lot of stories of things that we saw and experienced that day but I will keep them between us :)

Caitlin’s bridal was scheduled in Austin and when she got here it was one of the coldest days ever, it has just snowed and there was frost everywhere so doing an outside bridal was not possible so we went to plan B…my studio. Turns out the bridal below is one of my favorite bridals. Gotta love plan B. Of course, a shout out to my faves, Maris Malone Calderon and Jen Hoover for doing their thing again.. their hair and makeup skills are the best in town.

The wedding day went by so quickly-or so it seems. I guess that means I had a great time. It was held at one of y favorite places, Villa Antonia. I loved her colors-maybe beause they match my business colors? I dunno :) The wedding party was funny, all the guests treated us so awesome.  John’s mom was a hoot. She came up to me and said “you know…if you and I had been in school together..she paused, raised her eyebrow and continued with…we would have been in the principal’s office a lot together”. I looked at her and said “yes, and it would have always been your fault”. She looked at me and agreed 100%!  Darlin’..I would be honored to be in the principal’s office with you any time because I know that whatever we were in trouble for would have been hilarious and worth every second.

Well, I give a huge congratulations to a fun couple whom I love dearly and I look forward to photographing you and yours for years to come. Here are a few photos of our photographic journey together.
